Aftercare instructions
It is incredibly important to treat your skin with care after your electrolysis treatment - every single time. The process takes up to 2 years, and during the time the skin will be going through the natural wound healing process which requires some TLC. The instructions below will take the guess work out for you and help you along your journey. Remember, I am always a call or message away <3
For 48 hours after treatment, DO NOT:
sunbathe
cleanse the skin using products
use retinols or acid for one week after
have any other treatment in the area
take hot showers/baths
swim
apply make up to the treated area
apply soap or perfumed products to the treated area
wear tight clothing (for body areas)
Considerations
Treat the treated area as an open cut - they are tiny wounds
Therefore, please do not touch the treated area - our hands have so much bacteria and this can cause an infection
Do not pick any scabs or pustules that form - this is a normal and expected reaction. Picking these prematurely can cause scarring and hyperpigmentation. Apply vaseline at night after five days to keep hydrated
DO: your aftercare
Always
Aloe Vera is your BEST friend after your treatment. Apply this liberally with clean hands or a clean cotton pad in the treated area. You can keep this in the fridge for an extra oomph
Recommended
Pure Witch Hazel (from the pharmacy section) will help with any white spots/pustules that form - apply this with a cotton pad
Vaseline or a healing ointment such as the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (available in boots/online) five days after treatment - especially useful to use on scabs that form
Optional
Apply a cold compress or an ice pack (ensure the outside is sterilised/clean) to the treated area
Take an anti-histamine to bring down redness and bumps
General rules:
“If in doubt, leave it out” and, my personal favourite “keep it simple, stupid”. It can be very tempting to apply ALL the products, do ALL the things to your skin as it heals and looks scarier than you’ve ever seen it before. I promise you, it will sort itself out but the more you do to it, the more irritated the treated area will get and the longer the healing process will take. Keep your skincare simple for the first 3 to 4 days (longer if required).
ALWAYS message me if you have any concerns, we’re in this together :)
